TRUSTED ADVISOR
Personal support during and after divorce
Divorce is not only a legal and financial process. It can affect your sense of identity, your family, your relationships, your confidence and the way you see your future.
As a Trusted Advisor, I offer personal support to women navigating this period of their lives. I stand beside them as they work through personal and practical challenges, helping them maintain clarity, perspective and a sense of direction when life feels uncertain or overwhelming.
MY ROLE
Every divorce is different, and so is the support a woman may need. My role is not to tell you what to do, but to stand beside you as you navigate the decisions and changes that come with divorce.
I offer a trusted and confidential sounding board for the things that may not belong in a meeting with your lawyer or financial advisor. Together, we can bring order to what is happening, look at situations from different perspectives and work through the personal and practical questions that arise along the way.
Sometimes that means preparing for an important conversation or decision. At other times, it may mean dealing with changing relationships, family dynamics, practical matters or simply finding your footing as you begin to shape a life of your own again.
WORKING ALONGSIDE YOUR ADVISORS
A lawyer and financial advisor each have an important role during a divorce. My role is different and complementary. I do not provide legal, financial or therapeutic advice.
Instead, I support you with the personal and practical aspects surrounding the process. The emotional impact of divorce can make it harder to maintain perspective, communicate clearly or make considered decisions. By helping you create more calm, stability and clarity, I can also help you prepare for conversations with your professional advisors and make better use of the expertise they provide.
My aim is not to add another layer to the process, but to make an already difficult period more manageable.
MY EXPERIENCE
My understanding of divorce comes first and foremost from lived experience.
After a thirteen-year relationship, including seven years of marriage, I went through a complex divorce and had to rebuild my life from the ground up. I experienced firsthand how a divorce can affect far more than finances and legal arrangements. It can change relationships, identity, trust, your sense of security and the future you thought you knew.
I wrote about that journey in my memoir, Diary of a Rich White Woman. My experience of life within a wealthy marriage also gives me a particular understanding of the dynamics that can accompany divorce when significant wealth, lifestyle and complex personal and financial relationships are involved.
But my work as a Trusted Advisor is not limited to women from wealthy marriages. What matters is whether a woman feels she would benefit from having someone beside her who understands how deeply divorce can affect a life and can support her as she finds her way forward.
